Manitoba has conducted its first Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw of April, inviting skilled foreign workers to apply for provincial nomination.

The draw, held on April 9, 2026, targeted candidates under the Skilled Worker Stream, including both Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways. Invitations were extended to individuals who had been directly selected through strategic recruitment initiatives.

Draw Overview

A total of 32 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued in this round. Among those invited, eight candidates had active Express Entry profiles along with valid job seeker validation codes.

Compared to the previous draw held on March 12, where 46 invitations were issued, this round saw a notable 30% decline in the number of candidates selected. So far in 2026, Manitoba has invited 281 candidates through its PNP.

Breakdown by Recruitment Initiative

The invitations were distributed across multiple strategic recruitment categories:

  • Employer Services – 10 invitations
  • Francophone Community – 7 invitations
  • Ethnocultural Communities – 5 invitations
  • Regional Communities – 5 invitations
  • Temporary Public Policy (TPP) – 5 invitations

The Employer Services initiative accounted for the largest share of invitations in this draw.

Why Some Candidates May Have Missed Out

According to the Manitoba PNP, some eligible candidates may not receive an invitation due to errors or missing information in their Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles. Common issues include:

  • Invalid or missing language test numbers
  • Expired language test results
  • Incorrect strategic recruitment invitation details

Candidates are encouraged to review and update their profiles to remain competitive in future draws.

Strategic Recruitment and Exploratory Visits Explained

Manitoba continues to rely on strategic recruitment initiatives to attract skilled workers aligned with labour market needs. These initiatives often involve overseas recruitment missions where candidates interact directly with employers and program officials.

In addition, the province offers exploratory visits, allowing potential applicants to travel to Manitoba and assess employment opportunities, communities, and overall living conditions. During such visits, candidates may also be interviewed by immigration officials.

However, it is important to note that only a formal invitation from the MPNP rather than the visit itself qualifies a candidate to apply for provincial nomination.
