British Columbia has conducted another major provincial immigration draw, inviting 437 skilled workers through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) on May 14, 2026.
The latest Skills Immigration (SI) draw targeted candidates with high economic potential, especially those with strong salaries, skilled job offers, and competitive registration scores.
The draw highlights British Columbia’s continued push to attract global talent as labour shortages continue across several sectors in Canada.
Two Main Selection Categories Used in the Draw
The province divided invitations between two key categories.
Skilled Workers With High Salary Job Offers
A total of 225 invitations were issued to candidates who had:
- A TEER 0–3 job offer;
- Hourly wages of at least CAD $59;
- Annual salaries near CAD $120,000.
British Columbia considers these workers highly valuable because they can contribute immediately to economic growth and productivity.
Candidates With Strong BCPNP Scores
The remaining 212 invitations were issued to candidates with:
- Minimum registration score of 135 points.
BCPNP scores are calculated based on factors such as:
- Education;
- Work experience;
- Occupation;
- Language ability;
- Wage level;
- Regional demand.
B.C.’s “Innovate” Program Driving International Recruitment
This draw falls under British Columbia’s “Innovate” initiative, which aims to attract top global professionals and innovators to the province.
The initiative focuses on bringing highly skilled talent into sectors experiencing labour shortages while strengthening British Columbia’s international competitiveness.
The province has also indicated that future invitations may target different factors depending on labour market conditions.
Large BCPNP Draws Continue in 2026
The May 14 selection round became one of the largest BCPNP draws conducted this year.
Other major Skills Immigration draws in 2026 included:
- 484 invitations on April 22;
- 460 invitations on February 11;
- 429 invitations on February 4.
All of these draws largely focused on skilled candidates with strong job offers and higher wage levels.
On May 6, British Columbia also conducted a targeted draw inviting 333 candidates from occupations including:
- Healthcare;
- Education;
- Veterinary services;
- Construction trades.
Competition Increasing in the BCPNP Pool
British Columbia’s immigration pool remains highly competitive.
As of May 6, there were 9,967 active registrations in the Skills Immigration pool. Most candidates fell within the 100–109 score range.
Only a very small number of candidates currently hold scores above 140 points, making high-scoring profiles particularly valuable during selections.
Total Invitations Issued by British Columbia in 2026
The province has now issued 2,143 invitations through the Skills Immigration category in 2026.
Additionally, British Columbia has conducted eight Entrepreneur Immigration draws this year, issuing at least 49 invitations to business candidates through regional and base entrepreneur streams.
How the BCPNP Skills Immigration Process Works
Candidates interested in immigrating through the BCPNP Skills Immigration category must first submit an online registration under the appropriate stream.
Each profile is scored out of 200 points using human capital and economic factors. Higher-ranked candidates are more likely to receive invitations during provincial draws.
After receiving a provincial nomination, successful applicants can apply for permanent residence through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Registrations remain valid for up to one year before expiring.
British Columbia Focused on Skilled Talent and Labour Market Needs
British Columbia continues to position itself as one of Canada’s leading provinces for skilled immigration. The province is increasingly prioritizing candidates who can immediately contribute to the economy through strong work experience, higher salaries, and in-demand occupations.
With frequent BCPNP draws and targeted immigration strategies, British Columbia remains an attractive destination for skilled workers seeking Canadian permanent residence opportunities.
